Meet Dr. Hunter Harrison
Ever since I was 11 years old, I knew I wanted to be an orthodontist, and after 30 years of practicing, I still love what I do every single day. Achieving that dream felt almost surreal, and it’s incredibly rewarding to see my patients leave the office with confident, beautiful smiles. From a young age, I knew this was my calling—thanks to some aptitude testing in my teens, which pointed me directly toward orthodontics. I’ve never doubted that I’m doing what God intended for me to do.
My Commitment to Education
I earned my Bachelor of Arts from the University of Arkansas and went on to complete my Doctorate of Dental Surgery at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. I later earned my Master of Science and Certificate in Orthodontics from the University of Louisville. Over the years, I’ve had the pleasure of treating patients of all ages, and with the advancements in Damon™ Smile braces and clear aligners, we’re able to help more adults than ever. Laser bleaching has also brought about exciting results that weren’t possible when I first started my career.
I’m always eager to learn, which is why I regularly attend the Damon Forum for continuing education. The insights I gain from other doctors’ innovations, treatment successes, and the latest updates in the Damon system help me bring new techniques back to the practice. I even get the chance to teach the Damon technique to orthodontic residents at the UT Orthodontic Department, which is a win-win—I learn just as much from them as they do from me.

Outside the Office
When I’m not in the office, I enjoy spending time with my wife, Leigh, a former general dentist and now a Christian counselor with Kardia Collective Counseling in Memphis, and our three sons. Reed is an OB/GYN resident at UT Health Sciences Center in Memphis, Cole is a data analyst for Credera in Dallas, and Clay is an accountant with Ernst & Young in Memphis.
In my free time, I enjoy working on my 1972 Bronco, building furniture, and spending time in my yard growing flowers. My wife calls my Bronco my mistress, but it's not true. Girlfriend maybe...
